Imagination.
This is one of the things I love most about all creative activities I’ve been involved in.
And writing is without a doubt one of the most imaginative pursuits available to us – anything is possible, and as a writer we’re limited only by our own imagination!
In my experience that is true of almost all genres of writing – but fantasy novels and short stories often are crafted from pure creativity – with incredibly varied and rich lore, fantastic ideas, and language used.
That’s a big part of what makes me so happy to help inspire aspiring writers to get their creative writing under way, whether at home or at school.
After all, sometimes all it takes is a few words and the mind is racing away, the story forming in front of us!
It’s one of the reasons writing prompts are such a powerful thing – and importantly, encourages reluctant writers in the classroom, just as much as avid writers who love the challenge of daily writing of short stories on a topic chosen at random.
I’ve found that in fact I actually really enjoy letting my mind wander into pure creative mode, and capturing story idea after idea, each different and off on it’s own tangent.
So today I’m sharing with you 27 fantasy story ideas I thought up that should get your writing off to a flying start. If on the other hand you’d like writing topics which help the student reflect on their own opinions and thoughts, you might like to try out our prompts about being brave!
